The University of Sheffield
The University of Sheffield is one of the leading universities in the UK, recently acclaimed as "a top university across the board” by the Virgin 2005 Alternative Guide to British Universities. The University is rated highly across a wide range of subjects for teaching quality and research. It is home to more than 25,000 students, from 116 countries, and almost 6000 staff. Research partners and clients include Boeing, Rolls Royce, Unilever, Boots, AstraZeneca, GSK, ICI, Slazenger, and many more household names, as well as UK and overseas government agencies and charitable foundations. The University's history stretches back to 1828, when the Sheffield School of Medicine was founded, and the University Charter was granted in 1905.
The University of Leeds
The University of Leeds is acclaimed world-wide for the quality of its teaching and research. One of the largest universities in the UK, Leeds is also the most popular among students applying for undergraduate courses. An emphasis on innovative research and investment in high-quality facilities and first-rate infrastructure means that no fewer than 35 departments are rated internationally or nationally 'excellent'. NATEC
NATEC was established by the Universities of Northern England to 'unlock' their knowledge and resources for the UK aerospace industry. Accessing 200 academics and £300m equipment, NATEC develops new products, new technology and provides an educated workforce. We now have over 40 aerospace businesses at universities and colleges across Northern England.
Established in February 2002, NATEC was formed by collaboration between the Universities of the North of England. Currently participating Universities include Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Liverpool and Salford. The NATEC centre of excellence is based in Manchester and staffed by a team who understand the needs of both the Industry and the Academic world.
E.ON
E.ON UK is the UK’s largest integrated energy company – generating and distributing electricity, and retailing electricity and gas – and is part of the E.ON group, the world’s largest investor-owned energy services provider. The company employs around 12,000 people in the UK. E.ON
has partnered with Eptec to commission and install a fluidised bed reactor at the centre's research facility in Beighton.
Npower
Npower are the retail arm of RWE npower, a leading integrated UK energy company that is part of the RWE Group. RWE npower operates and manages flexible, low-cost coal, oil and gas-fired power stations and are developing innovative energy-related technologies. RWE Power International offers specialist services covering every aspect of owning and operating power plant, from construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance to eventual decommissioning.
