Chris Wilson received his first degree was in Aeronautical Engineering and a PhD in Gas turbine combustion. After completion of his first degree he worked for Rolls Royce military engine division where he became head of military combustion research before becoming a combustion specialist for Rolls Royce plc. In 1994 he moved to DRA at Farnborough where he held several posts including Technical area leader for the combustion and environment business group. In 1999 he was appointed a DERA, subsequently a QinetiQ, Fellow. In 2003 Chris moved to the University of Sheffield to pursue an academic career. Chris is currently the Technical Director of the European Network of Excellence ECATS (Environmental Compatible Air Transport System). His work is currently supported by the EC, DLR, Shell Aviation, Rolls Royce, Dumphy Combustion, E.On and RWENpower. His work has resulted in over 150 publications. (download pdf)

Mohamed Pourkashanian is Professor of High Temperature, Combustion Technology, Energy and Resources at the Research Institute, School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering (SPEME).He is both Head of SPEME and Director of the Centre for Computational Fluid Dynamics. Professor Pourkashanian's research interests include the field of CFD in Engineering, Enabling Technology for Low Carbon Economy including SOFC/Micro turbine, High Temperature Combustion Technology, Advanced Power Generation Technology, Evolutionary Computing for process optimisation, flows through porous media and Aviation and environment. His work in these areas has resulted in over 250 research papers and numerous industrial reports. Over the last two years he has been awarded research grants exceeding ˆ3 million. (download pdf)

Paul Williams is Professor of Environmental Engineering and Director of the Energy and Resources Research Institute at The University of Leeds. He has a research background in both applied chemistry and process engineering. He is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Energy Institute and Member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management. He has published more than 300 academic papers in the area of environmental engineering with more than 3000 citations to his work. His publications concentrate on the thermal processing of waste, including, waste incineration, pyrolysis and gasification, supercritical water oxidation/gasification and the development of analytical methodologies for the detailed analysis of complex matrices. He has been awarded UK Research Council, EC, Defra, DTI (TSB) and numerous industrial research grants, totalling over £10m. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of the journals, Fuel; Environmental Technology; Journal of the Energy Institute; Biofuels; Waste & Biomass Valorization. (download pdf)

Ross was appointed as
Company Secretary whilst heading the finance team at Suel, the
University of Sheffield’s Commercialisation & Business Support
Company which he joined in 2003. Prior to joining Suel, Ross worked at
both local and national chartered accountancy practices, where he
gained extensive knowledge in all areas of accountancy, taxation and
audit.
A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants with a BA [Hons] in Accounting and Business, Ross specialises in the provision of management accounting services, strategic and business planning, financial forecasting and statutory accounts preparation for SME [small and medium-sized enterprise] companies. Having been involved in a variety of fundraising transactions for private limited companies Ross also provides corporate governance and contract guidance, holding the position of company secretary to a number of companies spun out from the University of Sheffield in addition to Eptec.
